Project Overview

PROTAGONIST OF TIME is a splendid treasure inlaid in the prosperity of Zhengzhou. It is next to the historic grinding wheel factory in the north, where ancient charm and modern atmosphere are intertwined. In the past, it was a giant of grinding wheel manufacturing in Asia that witnessed the glory of the industrial age. Today, it has transformed into a cultural imprint of the city, telling the vicissitudes and changes of Zhengzhou.
The traces left by time seem to whisper among the red walls and black tiles, telling the story of Sino-German friendship and the inheritance of industrial dreams. The birth of the PROTAGONIST OF TIME is to pay tribute to this glorious history, inherit the Bauhaus style, and create today's urban legend. It is not only a building but also an eternal story on everybody's lips, presenting the glory and future of Zhengzhou and leading a new chapter of the city.

Project Brief

This cultural root gives birth to Zhengzhou's profound cultural connotation. PROTAGONIST OF TIME creates a dream place on this land, and China Overseas Estate is committed to building it into a shining pearl in the city. The design of the club is in line with the Second Grinding Wheel Factory Cultural and Creative Park, demonstrating a tribute to history and a vision for the future. It cleverly arranges upper and lower spaces where light and lines weave together to create an elegant and warm atmosphere. The spacious and bright parlor provides an excellent place for business negotiations and social gatherings, the quiet and elegant tea room is an ideal place to taste tea and have conversation, and the parent-child activity area brings a happy growth space for children. The large, green and flower-filled garden inside is integrated with the building, providing a pleasant environment for the residents to relax and feel as if they are on a land of idyllic beauty.

Project Innovation/Need

In terms of design, it boldly and innovatively integrates the Bauhaus style with the modern concept of human settlement. The designers skillfully use lines and colors to integrate the architectural rhythm with the international style, making the building look modern yet classic. The clever use of brick red pottery bricks and metal profiles along the street creates a unique visual impact that is unforgettable. The large glass curtain wall increases the sense of transparency of the building, showcases the texture of the times, and highlights the classic industrial beauty. At the same time, the designers also emphasize the creation of spatial experience and use clever spatial arrangement and flow line design to create a comfortable and livable atmosphere. The interior is decorated with high-quality materials and emphasizes detail treatment so that every corner is full of artistic atmosphere.

Design Challenge

The design process of PROTAGONIST OF TIME is full of challenges and exploration. The primary task facing designers is to achieve the perfect combination of modern aesthetic and functional requirements while inheriting the cultural context of the site. On the basis of maintaining the traditional charm, the integration of ceramic bricks and geometric architectural forms requires innovation, which is undoubtedly a huge challenge. However, the designers delve into historical culture and modern aesthetic trends and manage to strike a balance. Based on careful design and construction, they cleverly use brick-red pottery bricks and modern building materials to create a historic and modern architectural space. In addition, maximizing functions in a limited space is also a goal that designers want to achieve, and they successfully integrate functional areas such as the reception room, tea room, and parent-child activity area through reasonable spatial planning and layout design to bring a practical and beautiful space.

Sustainability

In terms of sustainability, the PROTAGONIST OF TIME project makes positive efforts, it takes environmental factors into full consideration at the beginning of the planning and adopts a variety of sustainable design strategies. When it comes to the selection of building materials, the project prioritizes the use of environmentally friendly and renewable materials to reduce the consumption of natural resources. At the same time, the project also emphasizes energy conservation design and reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions through reasonable architectural layout and the use of energy-saving equipment. In addition, the construction and protection of the ecological environment is also the focus of the project. Green vegetation and rainwater collection systems can improve the ecological benefits of the project. These sustainable design measures help protect the environment, conserve resources, and provide a healthy, comfortable, and livable living environment for residents.
